Mayfly is a short film I wrote and directed. I was inspired by a couple of Borges stories I enjoyed reading (specifically "The Secret Miracle" and "The Library of Babel", two of his more famous). I also drew on the work of Nick Bostrom in his book "Superintelligence: paths, dangers, strategies" to envisage a story about an AI that experiences the world at a much faster rate than our own.
It was a great experience to make, on an admittedly tiny budget, and I am very proud of the outcome. It's definitely not for everyone (my favourite review called it "boring and pretentious"), but those who've seen it and liked it, have tended to really like it, which is what i was hoping for.
